Lamar Band Weekly Announcements

Guard Contest – We did it! Trying to put this event into words is difficult. This past Saturday was our annual NTCA WinterGuard Contest at LHS. We hosted 62 “teams” at Lamar from 10:30am to 9:30pm. It was a very successful day. I had MANY compliments on our contest setup, flow, concessions, signage, etc.. I felt that in all my many years of hosting this event at Lamar, this was one of the smoothest. There are a plethora of people to thank and so many student and parent volunteers from outside of band that I am not sure I’ll be able to reach, but THANK YOU!!! The LBBC was instrumental in every step of this process. Liz Bankhead and Theresa Jorgensen did an outstanding job with the weeks / months of work to organize the many moving parts of this operation. Thank you to Amy Howerton and all of the Lamar Band Booster Club for the many hours of hard work! VFND!!! See lots of great photos on our Instagram: @Lamarband

All-City Honor Band Concert – Breathtaking! The music these kids can put together in such a short amount of time is incredible. The Lamar band students represented well at the clinic and concert last weekend. A video of the performance will be made public on the AISD website in the near future. I will be sure to share the link as soon as I get it.

Go See The Musical – “Bye Bye Birdie”  7:00pm-9:00pm $7 Thursday, Friday, Saturday this week! MANY Lamar band students are involved. Some on stage, some in the pit orchestra. You might even see LHS alumni sitting in and playing his instrument.

Congrats Lamar Winter Guards – The Lamar JV winter guard (Blue) had their second performance of the season Saturday and placed 3 their round. Varsity “took off” with a fantastic first show of the season. They easily won best makeup! Wish them luck at WGI Dallas this weekend.
