Veterans Day – On Monday, November 11th at 9:00am, Lamar HS will host a Veterans Day Assembly in the A gym. The wind symphony will be performing “Armed Forces Salute”. We hope some parents can come watch the event. Wind Symphony students will need to dress nice, like you would for a presentation in class or an interview. Wind Symphony students need to wear slacks, khakis, long sleeve dress shirts, dresses/skirts, etc. nice dress shoes. NO JEANS!
Playoff Game – This Friday, Lamar will play Trinity HS at Pennington Field. This is the first round of the playoffs. Students should expect a typical away game itinerary.
Car Wash – This Saturday, November 16th, we will have our fall car wash. All students will work at least one shift of the car wash. We will need many parents to help chaperone each car wash site. Students wash cars, parents supervise and collect donations. The sign up for students will happen Monday at school.
All-City – The AISD All-City Honor Band auditions are Monday November 18th. Students will audition for a spot in the honor bands that will perform Jan. 31st and Feb 1st. We would like every eligible band student to consider auditioning for the all-city bands. We have been working on the music and we know many students will be very successful with this important part of their band curriculum. Sign up on this form by Monday afternoon. https://forms.gle/J2i52StGGZYXWHqs5
Attendance – This week we will practice on Thursday afternoon from 3:30-4:30. While rehearsals are shorter and less often, they are more critical than ever. We will start learning the new “spirit show” very soon. Any student who misses a rehearsal will not be allowed to attend the game. Only medical emergencies will count as excused absences. This will affect the students grade in band class.
Eligibility – There are always questions about eligibility in regards to the no pass no play rule. If you have questions, let me know. The 2nd six weeks report cards will come out November 8th and any student with a failing grade will lose eligibility that day at 3:00pm. Students who are ineligible may not participate with the band. These students can not get into the games with us even to watch. Going forward, any ineligible students will not be allowed in the school before games and will not be allowed to go to the CiCi’s event hosted by the booster club.
Drumline Update – Great job Saturday at the Lewisville Drumline Contest!
Jazz Update – This week is the All-Region Jazz clinic and concert. We hope you can come out and support our 3 Lamar students who earned the opportunity to perform. The concert is Thursday evening, 7:00pm, at Paschal HS.
Color Guard Update – Complete your bi-weekly evaluations.
