Parade Practice Saturday – On Saturday June 29th we will hold our first parade practice. All students, including incoming freshmen, will be expected to perform. This is the first evaluation of the 2019-2020 marching band. We will meet at Nichols JH and practice from 9:00am – 3:00pm. We will be practicing both inside and outside so dress for warm weather. Students will need to wear sunscreen and drink lots of water. Bring a large water bottle. We will have an hour and a half lunch break from 11:00am-12:30pm. Students will need to plan for lunch on their own. Parents are welcome to pick up students to take them out for lunch. If you prefer, you could bring a sack lunch to Nichols or have something dropped off. The staff will be at Nichols during the break.
Tuesday Rehearsal – We will continue our weekly Tuesday evening practices this week. This week we will work on memorizing the Fight Song, Party in the USA, and Captain America. We have a lot of work to do so lets make sure we are ready to start rehearsing at 6:00pm. Rides should be waiting on students at 8:30pm.
Parents Meeting – On July 1st at 7:00pm, we will have a parent meeting at Nichols JH to discuss the parade and August marching camp. This meeting is particularly important for new members of the Lamar Band. On Tuesday June 25th at 8:00pm, the Lamar Band Booster Club will be meeting at Nichols JH. All parents are welcome to attend the monthly booster club board meetings.
Leadership Camp – The Lamar Band student leadership just finished a week of training. The captains and section leaders attended the UTA / Forward Leadership camp, and the drum majors attend the UNT / SASI leadership camp. We are very proud of them and they are all excited to bring back their new skills to help the Pride of Lamar! Congratulations to Terrance Lewis on winning the outstanding drum major of the entire camp!
Charms Account – Please use the attached pdf to login in to your charms account and update all the information for you and your family. If you have password problems, email me. Students can also access the music file for the marching band show in the document/handouts section.
