Lamar Band Weekly Announcements 3/3/2019

The Pride of Lamar – I am very proud of our students this week. There are so many great things going on at Lamar.

Congratulations to the Symphony Orchestra (full orchestra) on earning a UIL Orchestra Sweepstakes with straight ones on stage and in sight reading!

On Saturday, we had many great musicians attend the UIL Solo & Ensemble contest at Arlington High. The following students earned Division 1 ratings and medals: Exauce M, Gabi S, Daniel D, Marie B, Brennan S, Aidan M, Aiden H, Christian G, Leslie M, Dillon L, Noah W, Evin D, Janneth L, Eric L, Julie N, Jeremiah P, and Cole P.

Also on Saturday, the Lamar Guard competed at the final NTCA contest before championships. Lamar Blue (JV) placed 3rd and Varsity placed 1st! Another great weekend for the Lamar Guard!

LHS Symphony UIL 2019

Pre-UIL Concert – Tuesday is our Pre-UIL Concert at Martin HS. All students will perform with the Lamar Varsity and Non-Varsity concert bands. Students are required to wear their formal concert attire. Make sure they are clean and pressed and ready! Students should eat something before call time at 4:45pm. Itinerary attached.

Events Calendar – Date change. PastaPalooza has been moved to March 20th. Mark your calendars for this amazing event! The jazz concert that was scheduled on this date has been merged with the PastaPalooza event. We are looking for some great silent auction items. I have attached an updated events calendar.

Sectionals – See the calendar and the attachment for details regarding the sectional schedule.

Spring Trip – The final March payment needs to be cash, money order, or online payment. No personal checks.

Drumline Update – The drumline performed at Nichols on Friday. This Friday is the big solo performance concert at Truth Vinyl. I hope that we have a huge turnout to support our percussion studio.

Jazz Update – The jazz band had a great performance at Nichols on Friday. Thank you students for your patience with the program/speaker.

Winterguard Update – WGI Denton March 16 & 17 for ALL Lamar Guard members. Also, invite everyone to attend Pasta Palooza on March 20th!
